Process Overview:
- Direct chlorination of gaseous ethylene and chlorine under a liquid bed of product EDC
- Two parallel reactor trains, with instantaneous production rate of 18 tones/hr
- Instantaneous chlorine rate to each reactor is 13,175 kg/hr or 183,000 tones/yr total
- Instantaneous ethylene rate to each reactor is 5168 kg/hr or 71,750 tones/yr
- EDC is produced at an instantaneous rate of 18,100 kg/hr per reactor doe a total rate of 250 kta.
